A Day @ BDotnet’s DevCon Event

It was yet another big event from our own BDOTNET User group and was a huge success in the end as usual 🙂

If you are new to this .NET community user group, then here’s a short information about the User Group.

BDOTNET user group focussses mainly on knowledge sharing on Microsoft Technologies, networking via various sessions or programmes organised as a part of BDOTNET User Group meetings.

Excellent Sessions / seminars are delivered by various community members that includes Microsoft MVP’s, Microsoft RD’s and also volunteers 🙂

DevCon 2012 by BDOTNET User Group was held on August 4, 2012 at Microsoft Corporation, Signature Building, Bangalore.

The Event included a key note and 12 sessions on different topics like Windows 8, ASP.NET MVC4, Windows Azure, and Metro UI, Intel Ultra book Platform, Kendo UI, SQL Server, Visual Studio 2012, No-SQL and HTML5.

I am a regular member of BDOTNET usergroup but because of some busy schedule on weekends for last couple of months, I was missing out the UG meets but did not want to miss out this time and hence planned well to catch up the event for some sessions in the afternoon.

I had to reach the venue at 2.00 PM after finishing my Guest lecturing at Christ University and immediately was able to catch up with the Vinod’s session.

Ignite the leader within you by Vinod Kumar

Vinod as usual was superb with his session. This time though he spoke about a general topic than talking about SQL Server. He explained the topic with clear explanation with some examples on Leadership. His point of view on Leader vs. Manager was good.

He showed some videos on the Leaderships and kept audience engaged throughout his session.

Introduction to No-SQL & Mongo DB by Manoj

Another interesting session by Manoj who talked about No-SQL and Mongo DB.

This was pretty new for me and I got an idea of what exactly is Mongo DB. Mono DB is said to be one of the popular No-SQL databases. In this session, Manoj shared some information about No-SQL and explained the sample program with C# Driver for Mongo DB on Visual Studio.

Visual Studio 2012 – Tips & Tricks by Lohith

The Last session for the day was from Lohith who talked about Visual Studio 2012 – Tips & Tricks providing some interesting shortcut keys and tips on Visual Studio 2012.

Lohith made the session look more interactive and lively by adding some humour to his session. Some of the tips that was shared during this session was awesome.

After a long time, I got time to catch up with Vic, Pinal Dave and Abhishek Kant and few more friends …

There were couple of takeaways in terms of knowledge and some goodies that included (Plural Sight Monthly Subscription and Telerik Key chains) and not to forget the T-Shirts for people who answered few questions 🙂

If you are a .NET Developer staying in Bangalore and not part of this community, then you are missing something …
