I found a nice article on “Silverlight for Symbian hits 20K download”
The blog states that the
“Silverlight for Symbian – Beta hits 20K in successful downloads”.
Silverlight is the development platform for Windows Phone 7 along with the XNA Framework .
Microsoft had announced a Beta version of Developer Tools and Silverlight runtime during the MIX’10 to enable users to run Silverlight applications on the symbian devices.
Silverlight is now available for following Nokia S60 5th Edition devices such as
- Nokia 5800 XpressMusic
- Nokia N97
- Nokia N97 Mini.
This shows the growing market or demand for silverlight too.. 🙂
This one is a more informative and fresh news for me though ,But i am wondering if one could develop the silverlight application for Windows Mobile earlier versions like “Windows Mobile 6.1 , 6.0,5.0, PPC 2003”??. I still remember reading an article somewhere that states that “It is not possible on WinMo” .
I own an Windows Mobile 6.1 Device ( Samsung Omnia Pro B7610 ) and when i use the Silverlight Application / Website , it shows me the image button “get silverlight” image button. When i click on it , nothing happens.
But anyways , it an nice initiative to support silverlight for Symbian and might expect it for the earlier version of Windows Mobile too 🙂 .
Here are some nice links to start the Silverlight Development for Symbian Phones .
